HISTORIC NOTES

The 2N24 is the commercialized version of the 1768 developmental point contact transistor. It uses the cartridge metal case style common to early Bell Labs and Western Electric point contact transistors. Volume production of these units started in late 1952/early 1953. Western Electric transistors were typically available only to the military and to the equipment manufacturing divisions of Western Electric.
