ABOVE, L-to-R:   As can be seen from the above developmental Transitron items, the medium power silicon devices utilized silicon's superior heat capacity to great benefit.  The first shown item "Z118" is next mounted in a flange mounted enclosure to realize a now 5 watt rated "Z118", shown second.  Likewise, the third item "Z122" is next  mounted in a flange mounted enclosure for a new 5 watt version "Z122", the fourth item shown.  These previous types would correspond to the above ad listed "2N545" and "2N547" types.  Finally, the last item "Z124" is just a regular TO-5 silicon transistor inserted in a stud-mounted enclosure for a new 5 watt rating.  This would likely correspond to the above ad listed "2N551" type.
