These are photos of various aspects of Dick Endres’ early career at RCA, as described in this Oral History.  The top right photo shows a section of the completed 5120 bit $750,000 memory system developed by Dick for the Air Force in 1951 – note the row of $3000 Solectron tubes mounted across the top of the system.  The transistors shown in the upper left photo were recently donated by Dick to the TransistorMuseum.  The two amber plastic units at the right of this photo are RCA developmental point contact transistors from the late 40s, early 50s.  The white TA-153 is a developmental germanium junction transistor, developed by RCA in 1952. The green 2N35 is a very early RCA production NPN junction transistor, first offered for sale in 1954.    Finally, the scan to the left illustrates a section of the patent granted to Dick Endres relating to his very early circuit application work with point contact transistors. Note that the Sept 1949 filing date is only three months after the first anniversary of the June 1948 initial public announcement by Bell Labs of the invention of the transistor.
